How to brew Saffron Threads from Saffron Australia:

A “pinch” is about 20 common saffron threads. There are two methods for brewing saffron. Any leftover saffron liquid will keep in a tightly covered jar in the fridge for more than a week. Saffron liquid is deep red but will turn yellow when mixed with food.

Method 1) Brewing in hot water: The best way to extract flavor from saffron is to soak the threads in warm (not boiling) liquid for about 30 minutes before using. You should then add the juice to your dish towards the end of cooking. If you like, you can also strain the threads out before adding them, but it’s a tricky job and they look good either way.

Method 2) Brewing with ice: Put some saffron in a small bowl or cup. Add an ice cube (crushed ice is best). Leave to infuse for about 10 minutes or until the ice has melted. Saffron is known for the nice aroma and flavor. As the ice melts, it will let the color and aroma of saffron grow.

Add saffron threads to hot water and let the liquid form. Once it’s ready, add it to your dish or rice. Natural color without agents or preservatives.
